Purpose: Learners understand and model the apple life cycle and relate it to other agricultural products.

Purpose: Learners will explore heredity in the context of beef cattle.

Purpose: Learners will plant a corn seed in a mini bag to gain a basic understanding of corn growth in Nebraska.
Edible Plant Parts

Purpose: Learners will identify whether common plants we eat are seeds, roots, stems, leaves, fruit, or flowers.
Farm Animal Match
Activity Level: Beginner
Purpose: Students will match farm animals with their young, learn the terminology for males, females, and baby animals, identify the products each farm animal produces, and learn basic facts about how animals are cared for on a farm.
Farming in a Glove

Purpose: Learners will follow instructions to grow four different types of seeds.
Give Me Five
Activity Level: Intermediate
Purpose: Learners learn about the five food groups and what state-grown foods fit into each group. This lesson makes a local connection to nutrition and a healthy lifestyle.
Many Hats of a Farmer
Activity Level: Intermediate
Purpose: Learners will understand that farmers and ranchers have to complete many different types of tasks for their jobs and why those tasks are important.
My Healthy Plate
Activity Level: Beginner
Purpose: Learners will become familiar with the foods they eat and healthy eating habits while learning about the MyPlate food campaign.
My Farm Web
Activity Level: Intermediate
Purpose: Students use the visual representation of a web to explore the role of agriculture in their daily lives and understand how most of the necessities of life can be traced back to a farm.
Nutritional Snack
Activity Level: Intermediate
Purpose: Help learners understand the basic nutritional needs of certain farm animals.
Our World
Activity Level: Advanced
Purpose: Create a model that represents the amount of earth’s usable soil and water.
Seed Sorting
Activity Level: Beginner
Purpose: Learners will observe various types of seeds and be introduced to seeds grown in Nebraska.
The Great Pumpkin
Activity Level: Beginner
Purpose: Understand and model the pumpkin life cycle and relate it to other agricultural products.
Tops & Bottoms
Activity Level: Beginner
Purpose: Learners will investigate where food comes from, the parts of the plants we eat, and the crops that are grown in Nebraska.
Truth or Hogwash
Activity Level: Intermediate to Advanced
Purpose: Have learners work in groups to play a quiz-bowl game in which they will answer true/false questions about pigs.
